I think this is absolutely genius. It looks like a minimum of a 5x5 inch base of pine.

I've never seen a portable alter to Dagon, the originality is very strong as is the vision.

Using shells is for the trident is perfect, I'd say made by a younger resident of Innsmouth as deep-one hands would be to large, plus the pine would be available on shipping containers.

I like the blue backing but can't tell what it's made of. It looks great though and the color balances everything. I like the subdued blue.

The urn looks from the orient, the owner traveled abroad and that's the final clue.

Thus I assume a sailor from Innsmouth made it, as that whats the evidence appears to be. Yes definitely a sailors portable alter.

The wood has a found look, if it was made in Innsmouth I'd assume worked edges. Since it has unworked edges, it was made on the ship and since it's small it was made in secret.

So a sailor from Innsmouth, on a ship made a portable sacrificial alter in secret. Either that's blood or candle wax so I guess it did not work out for the crew.

Overall it has a huge impact. The technique while lacking complexity actually add's much greater realism, and even greater impact.

It is a centerpiece as it should be, and make one think. I really like this piece.
